Arizona climbers can scramble, dyno, jam, edge, chimney, stem, lieback, mantel, smear, pinch and in general, climb at dozens of established areas in the North, South, East and West. Who found these crags and set these routes? Manny Rangel! Manny is a captain in the Phoenix fire department, has been climbing and developing routes in Arizona for over forty years.
In 1983, he moved to Phoenix and realized there were a limited number of climbs. He began putting up first ascents from 5.5 to 5.12d. His routes, now in the hundreds, can be found across the state. During this presentation, Rangel with cover his last few years of climbing in Central Arizona and setting up and developing new routes in Stewart Pocket, Christopher Creek Gorge and The Deep.
